Wall•E Birthday Invitation

Wow, it has really been a whirlwind of a week. Last weekend I was up to my eyeballs in fairy dust and butterfly wings and now I am switching gears and getting ready for my son's Wall•E party. Sunday night I was up late working on these invitations:

My son Zander really loves Wall•E so I wanted to come up with an invitation with a robot flavor. Many different ideas came to mind. I even thought of making the card out of sheets of tin, but then realized it would cost more to mail. I settled on this cool glittery black card stock from Doodlebug because it reminded me of outer space and all the sparkly stars in the sky. The Wall•E stickers are by Jolee's and the screw shaped brads were the store brand from Michaels. The information section was done on my computer using InDesign. It was fun to incorporate Zander's name in the style of Wall•E's logo.

Fairy Invitations

I got a late start with Natalie's birthday invitations, but I think they turned out pretty darn cute! This year I am really gonna try to keep things simple, we are only going to have a few girls over instead of the usual 10-12, which should cut down costs and ensure I keep my sanity through the remainder of the December birthdays and into the Christmas holidays.

I used my Fiskars scalloped border punch along the bottom edge. To decorate the envelopes. I stamped the girls' names with celery colored ink, then added glitter over the top.

This fairy invitation has a fairy dust velum overlay. What you can't see from this photo is the white sheet is mounted onto clear acetate, so it looks like it's floating. The bottom layer is a background paper with silhouettes of TinkerBell.

Here's another look. Special photoshop brushes courtesy of Obsidian Dawn.

Penguin Invitations

This year, thanks to all the animated penguin movies, my son wanted to have a penguin themed birthday party. I just created these and mailed them out this morning...

Now I can continue getting ready for my daughter's Candy Shoppe party this weekend!

Paper Confections

Birthday season is about to begin around here and I've been a busy girl.

Here is my daughter's 7th birthday party invitation...a lollipop. The swirl is made with glittery pink card stock cut out with a Sizzix die. On the back of the lollipop, it reads: "Sugar and Spice and all things nice...that's what little girls are made of."

A bouquet of yummy treats!

On the back of this tag are the party details.

Bon-bons anyone?

Hayden's 2nd Birthday Invitations

So this is what his invites look like...

Hayden LOVES trucks, trains and tractors, so the "By Land" set from Stampin Up was perfect. I have only completed one so far...and his birthday is 2 weeks away...Yikes! I better get going.

Zander's Train birthday invitation (when he was 2)

This is a tri-fold card. The blue engine is the front panel. The giraffe card inside the vellum pocket opens to give the details of the party.

Front and inside of invitation "boarding pass." (It flips up to open)

Wow! It has been a while since I have posted to this blog. Thanks Donna for the encouragement. I needed it today! I've been in a funk this week and haven't been creating much. I did work on Zander's birthday pages for his cowboy party. There are a few spots that still need captions before I will post them. I seem to put off my journaling, but I hope to finish the pages this weekend so I can start on Natalie's birthday pages.

I thought I would post a birthday invite I created a couple years ago when Zander had a train birthday party. The cover design was made by making a paper piecing pattern out of a retired Stampin' Up! train stamp. I know I could have just stamped them and it would have been a lot faster to complete, but those who know me well, know I can't just do anything the easy way! Plus, I really like the paper piecing look for my invites. The inside "Boarding Pass" was obviously done on the computer and did save me some time by not having to hand-write all the details. Thanks for looking!

Here's what I went with

Zander's revised Cowboy Invitation:
As much as I liked the other invitation, I think this one is better. I punched a border around the edge using a 1/16th inch punch, then threaded hemp twine through the holes. I like the added texture that it gives. "Zander's Roundup" is done in a Rope font I downloaded from an internet font site. I thought it was the perfect touch for this invite. Once the wording was printed out on parchment, I tore and burnt the edges (lost some of the invites in the process, got carried away!). Zander is very excited about his upcoming party. BTW, the address and phone number are blured for security reasons.

Zander's Cowboy Invitation

Zander's birthday is coming up right after Natalie's so I am trying to get his invitations figured out now. This is my first prototype and I think it turned out okay. The part I like best about this card is that I can probably make all 12 of them in the same time it took me to make one of the castle invitations for Natalie's party. Any comments or suggestions?

Natalie's Princess Party Invitation

This is how the invitation looks when it's closed.
This is how it looks when it's opened...before I've added the party details.
Here is a close-up, with the castle doors open to reveal the birthday girl's age!

One of my very favorite things to make are party invitations. This year my baby girl turns 6!!! Since the theme is Princesses, I thought a glittery castle would a fun way to announce the big day. This is just the prototype. The actual invites will also include the party details on the left inside flap as well as "Princess Natalie" in a scroll under the castle. I've had a vague idea of what I wanted this too look like for a long time, but I always have a bit of anxiety in starting into the actual design and development. Yesterday I worked on it on an off for a few hours while the kids were playing and after several revisions, I came up with this tri-fold card. She just loved it!!! Now I'm going to spend the next week cutting, folding, gluing and sprinkling with glitter to insure that these get mailed by Thanksgiving. I'm using the Disney Princess postage stamps of course. Wish me luck!
All paper is Stampin' Up! I used both Art glitter and Stampin' Up's Dazzling Diamonds. TFL
