Happy Waiting

These past few days I have been busy trying to catch up on house work. It seems like this time of year I always get the decluttering bug and so that is what I have been doing all week...still not done though.

Anyway, after I got all the kids in bed tonight I really wanted to make a card or something...anything. So I sat down and made this card for my younger sister:

At Christmas, my sister announced that she was expecting baby #2! She is going to be one busy mama because her first is about 9 months old right now. I get tired just thinking about it!!!

I made this card for her from the Swell News set from Stampin' Up! The swirl background is made from a Cuttlebug embossing folder...and just in case you can't read the tab, it says "Happy Waiting!"

Meet my new nephew

Brandon Mason Cimino was born this morning. He was breach, so my sister had him via c-section. It's a good thing too cause he was also a big baby (9 lb, 15 1/2 oz) and the cord was wrapped around his neck which was causing him to have trouble breathing. He was rushed away and put under oxygen for several hours, but, I'm happy to announce that he is doing fine now! Isn't he sweet?

Swell News

I just ordered the "Swell News" stamp set. It came UPS on Friday and on Monday, my friend Jennifer told me she was pregnant! (I was the first person she told besides her husband!) I got the set because my sister Andrea is due to give birth to her first baby in about a month and my friend Bekki is also pregnant...so I figured it would come in handy. Here is a card I gave to Jennifer today.

Stamps, ribbon and watercolors are Stampin Up!; background paper is by MMI Colors by design (it's about 6 years old. I got it for a LO of when Natalie was a baby)

Baby Crazy

I don't know what got into me today. When I was looking for photos to post, I found all these baby themed projects. Not all of them are paper crafts, but I hope they inspire you none the less.

Bubble Bath

The bubble background on this page was made by doing the following:
1. Take a cup (disposable) and put in equal parts dish soap and paint (or re-inkers). Filling it no more than 1/2" from the bottom.
2. Add a couple drops of water and stir with a straw, making sure that it doesn't get too frothy.
3. Now blow until bubbles start forming.
4. Keep blowing until you have a pile of bubbles flowing up past the rim of the cup.
5. Carefully invert your paper onto the bubbles. Don't let your paper touch the rim of the cup or you will get a circle of paint on your paper too.
6. Repeat until your whole page is covered.

The stamped letters were made by applying several layers of Chrystal Effects to them before I cut them out. All stamps, ink and paper are Stampin' Up!

Handmade Baby Gifts

I was so excited when my best friend went to Texas to adopt their baby boy that I wanted to surprise them with a few baby things for the nursery. I painted the star yellow and stamped the details with an alphabet set, applied glitter to the letters and attached a ribbon for hanging. The canvas drawing was a group effort. Z did the blue painted background and N did the drawing and wrote the name. For each of my kids, I have kept the newspaper from the day they were born. Since Anne was in Texas, I doubted she would think of this...so I got one for her and tied it up with a ribbon.

First Birthday Ducky card

I made this for my niece on her first birthday.
This is pretty much the same card as the one I posted before, I just wanted to show what I did on the inside. The finished size is 6x6 which makes it a perfect fit for a 6x6 scrapbook album. All you would have do is cut down the middle of the open card and you would have 2 6x6 pages!

Baby Shower Momento

When I threw a baby shower for my friend Anne, we decided to do a tea. So I made up a little booklet with the menu on the front. On the inside there were pages that told the history of tea, how to brew the perfect cup of tea as well as a few tea recipes (scones etc.) It's hard to tell in the photo, but the booklet it hole punched at the top left corner and held together with a ring that has blue ribbon tied to it. I also made the invites that turned out sooo cute, but I didn't take any pictures. I will post a picture when I find my copy of the invite. (it's probably in a box somewhere in the garage...not unpacked from the move yet!) For party favors, everyone got to take home a little silver tea spoon.

Baby Shower Gift

Here is a paint can I did for my friend's baby shower (18 months ago). There are small pieces of blue paper attached to the side and inside there were things for making baby scrapbooks. On the lid, the text reads:
Baby books are great fun, but sometimes you're so busy... Living with a little one can put you in a tizzy. Milestones pass too fast at times to find the propper page. So jot a note with each event, with date and Isaac's age, then drop it in this memory can to help you remember each wonderful stage.
(This saying came from Pea Soup on the 2 Peas website) The background paper used is from Stampin' Up! (but it's been retired)

Baby Thank You Card

This is a thank you card that I made for everyone who gave me baby gifts after baby #3 was born. By the time you have 3 kids, people just kind of assume you have all you need. Although we did have most everything, all the clothes for H were the wrong season, so I was gratful to have some new clothes for him...sweaters in August just didn't cut it!!!

Weeee!

Look how little my DD is! Not the most exciting layout, but I like the fact that it's not all cluttered up with trendy scrapbook stuff.
