Paper Chain: Countdown to Christmas

Do you remember making these in school? When we made them in grade school, we made long chains and hung them all over the class room. Every year since Natalie has been old enough to count, I have made one of these. This year however, I actually started it BEFORE December, so it's not as wimpy as in years past. Now that the kids are older, they are able to help assemble the chain. Won't be long until all the chains are cut off and Christmas will be here!

How fun!
I totally remember having paper chains in school.
Great paper btw.
Do you have your house decorated for Christmas already??
I just started taking the fall decor down yesterday but the pumpkins and corn stalk are still outside on the porch.

No way Jose! We still have the pumpkins, cornstalks and hay bales on the front porch too!

Since Natalie's birthday is coming up, I usually don't decorate for Christmas until afterwards.

Whew!
I gotcha, that's nice that you do that for Natalie.
My bday is also in Dec. and we had the Christmas decor up too and I got a lot of snowmen stuff. But my Mom was pretty good about letting us pick out a theme and decorating that way, but as I got older the Christmas decor kept creeping it's way out earlier and earlier. Luckily though my bday is at the beginning of the month so if she waited a week or so into Dec. to deorate - not a big deal.
Do you do anything special at the end of the paper chain? I mean besides celebrate Christmas?
We have a tradition on Christmas eve of opening one individual gift and then the kids get to open one shared gift. It's matching new jammies for the kids and either a new Christmas book or family Christmas video. And then we snuggle up in our new pjs and have treats and read the book or watch the Christmas video together. That way on Christmas morn we are all matching and stuff for photos. Ya know, no mismatched jammies, which I am guilty of from time to time. teehee.
Ok, I've rambled on enough.

Christmas eve is busy as we open gifts with Dan's grandparents and then rush over to open gifts with my family! Whew! I get the kids matching jammies too. Which reminds me I need to go buy some before they run out of sizes. It's getting harder to match 3 kids, but I usually have good luck at the Children's Place.
